  The members of this South Central L.A. group had close ties to members of N.W.A -- Above the Law produced their own debut album, Livin' Like Hustlers, with Dr. Dre, and recorded it for Eazy 's Ruthless label (which was going through Epic as well as Priority and Atlantic).8/

  Above the Law is a gangsta rap group from Pomona, California, founded in by members Cold um, KMG the Illustrator, Go Mack, DJ Total K-Oss. Their first record deal was on Eric " Eazy-E " Wright's Ruthless Records, the independent label owned by Wright that featured major acts like N.W.A., The D.O.C., and Eazy-E himself.

  Straight from the opening seconds of "Murder Rap" you know your in for some dope shit. Above the Law are one the west coast's finest groups and their debut is a classic in the "post-Straight Outta Compon/Pre-Chronic" era of gangsta rap. Fresh gangsta rhymes delivered over Dr. Dre's funky production, this album really works well.
