What you'll notice is that the sound of the album veers into a dark and fairly heavy though melodic atmosphere with drums up front and long lines from burning electric and electro-acoustic guitars that often get turned down a bit in the mix.5/5(2).

  Shaded Pain instead recalls the same sort of hollow, threatening darkness conjured by artists like Bauhaus and Nick Cave. Knott sings like a man possessed, howling and shrieking through driving numbers like "Die Baby Die" and moaning like a prophet of doom in the chilling "Bye Bye Colour." There is no absolution on Shaded Pain, just endless emptiness.9/

  Shaded Pain is Lifesavers’ fourth album, and it has its own unique sound, darker and more musically mature than their original works. The band started out with a sound reminiscent of s punk and with this release, they sound completely like the late 80s punk scene.
